Washington/Beirut – February 25, 2025

As part of its annual tradition, the Lebanese-American Coordinating Committee (LACC) will conduct a tour in Washington, D.C., from February 25 to March 3, 2025. During this visit, the committee will hold high-level meetings at the White House, the State Department, the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate, and various research centers. Additionally, LACC will engage with permanent missions to the United Nations and the UN Security Council in New York.

This year’s meetings hold exceptional significance due to shifting geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East and the resumption of constitutional institutions in Lebanon. LACC continues to advocate for sovereignty and reform, reflecting the cumulative efforts it has pursued since its establishment in 2021.

Key Challenges Addressed in LACC’s Working Paper

As part of its mission, the committee will present a working paper highlighting the following critical issues:

  • Security and Sovereignty
  • Judicial, Economic, and Financial Reforms
  • Sovereign Control Over Borders and the Elimination of All Illegal Weapons
  • Lebanon’s Positioning Amid Geopolitical Challenges

Policy Paper Recommendations

LACC has also introduced specific recommendations in its Policy Paper, including:

  • Supporting the New Sovereign Government
  • Ensuring Full Lebanese Sovereignty Over Its Territory While Pressing for Israel’s Complete Withdrawal from Lebanese Lands
  • Continuing International Support for Lebanon While Reinforcing Governance and Economic Reforms
  • Enhancing the Capabilities of the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces
  • Expanding Diplomatic Efforts to Counter Iranian and Hezbollah Influence
  • Encouraging Lebanon’s Foreign Policy to Shift Toward Positive Neutrality

A Critical Moment for Lebanon’s Future

LACC’s working paper underscores that Lebanon’s new leadership represents a crucial opportunity to break decades of political stagnation, economic mismanagement, and Hezbollah’s unchecked dominance. The weakening of Hezbollah, the fall of the Assad regime, and the decline of Iranian influence present a rare window for Lebanon to reclaim its sovereignty and stability.

However, this opportunity will be lost unless the Lebanese government, with strong international backing, takes decisive action to:

  • Disarm all non-state factions
  • Implement necessary reforms
  • Restore full state control

stable and democratic Lebanon is essential for strengthening cooperation with the United States. A clear and coordinated strategy to reinforce Lebanese sovereignty and state institutions will be key to ensuring long-term stability in Lebanon and the region.
